I have had a very virtuous day today. I have completed two embroidery kits, sorted all the stuff out for my new role as Programme Secretary at the Embroiderers' Guild, filled out my tax form, my student loan form, sorted all my emails out. I also updated the Embroiderers' Guild website, Twitter, blog and Facebook page! Few! It is still only lunch time!
This afternoon I am going to Ebay some stuff, complete a crochet gun and make a start on a fabric journal I am making. What a busy day!
The wren has been successfully framed and posted to its owner. Hooray!
I am now working on some kits to take to a Hobbycraft demonstration, They will be on the website soon. When I have done that I am working on a stole commission. I have started going to a group called Itchy Fingers a group of textile artists who are very enthusiastic and are very supportive.
I am trying something new with my food again because I was feeling miserable. I am currently 68.4kg after spending the last few days binging on junk and beer. Now I am going to try calorie counting.
I am getting on well with my canvas work that Betty bought for me for my birthday
It has been a busy day today. We started about 6.30 and I am still at my desk at 3 this afternoon (well I think my brain might have gone missing!) I have made 2 kits, sold a third, done a DVD for James' dad, sold a book, designed my letter for the Embroiderers' Guild, updated the Embroiderers' Guild blog, website, Twitter, blog and I still have the cricket and the football to listen to! My letter needs to be done by Friday, so I have to get on with it really particularly as tomorrow is our wedding anniversary, so I will be having a day off!
My new phone arrived yesterday. I bought it second hand and it came broken with photos of credit cards and pornography on it, so it may have to go back!
I have not done any wren today, but here is the latest picture.....
I am doing my wren today, it is coming on very slowly, but I am pleased with how it is going. I nearly had to start again though as I dropped the glue-covered bead, thankfully it landed glue side up. Why does that not work with toast?!
I will take the wren to the Embroiderers' Guild this afternoon, the first sewing I have done there for ages!
I made some more DVDs for James' dad today and will post them to Belgium later.
I painted the background for another kit and I have been able to treat myself to a new phone with the profits. Yeah! I very rarely want to buy things like that, but the technology bug really hit me with this and I can't wait until it arrives
The canvas work is still going well. I have nearly finished it now sadly, but I think it is really something I would like to do in the future.
James helped me with some amigurumi ideas yesterday and I am really looking forward to starting those when I have less on as I think it will be something I need to do in one go so I get in the zone.....!
I have not been feeling great for the last few days so I thought I would do some crochet. I finished doing the second Snakey and put the pattern up on the internet. I sold one straight away. Wahoo! Yesterday I made a stripy snake in black and white, but the colour change method I use was too messy. I am trying a new technique with a new snake in black and green. Emo Snake!
I made a kit this morning and I got paid for my seahorse article. Unfortunately we need to stay in for a parcel to arrive because it would be nice to go out for lunch to celebrate, this also means no Wednesday trip to the cinema :@(
We were talking about how we would eat differently if we were on our own, so we decided to eat our meals separately (except supper) and eat what we fancy depending on how hungry we are. I am currently munching on a salad for lunch instead of a full meal and it is lovely.
The canvas work is coming on.....
I have done some more work on the canvas work yesterday. It gets very addictive!
I wrote up the patterns today for Thingamejig and Thingamebob and also Snakey. Snakey's pattern will need to be tested by making another snake to make sure it is correct and the other pattern was ready so PDFed and put up on Etsy, Ebay and my website
I have been making another Seahorse kit today, they are selling steadily which is nice. Last time I had a rush and it was very hard to keep up!
We are having a meal tonight to celebrate Betty's birthday. We are in different countries, but the idea is we all sit down to a meal at the same time.
I managed to borrow a frame from my mum on Monday and so I started the canvas work kit that Betty (my mother-in-law) sent me to finish for her. I loved doing it and spent about 8 hours pretty much without breaks doing it. I think it also may have rekindled my love for embroidery which is fantastic! Keep looking here for its progress.
I was sent my Kingfisher embroidery back from its tour with Stitch magazine and so he is ready to put up on the website to sell
We are going to feed a friends cat for them while they are away, it takes about 45 minutes to get there so it means the dogs get a nice walk. We are going to the cinema today and to see an embroidery exhibition by a local group called Itchy Fingers in the town (about 30 minutes walk away - lots of walking today!)
There has not been much crochet done in the last few days, I think I would like to get the canvas work finished and I would definitely like to do more, I find it very difficult to find patterns to my taste, so maybe I will have to design some!
I am starting to think about designing embroidery on Photoshop.....we will see how that goes!
Yesterday when we had finished I wasn't feeling very creative, so I made the basic shapes for a rabbit, and a beaver so I could finish all the fun bits today. I finished my rabbit and I am taking the printed pattern with me to the Embroiderers' Guild so I can make another one to check if I have made the pattern correctly. This one will be blue, just for fun!
We are having some friends round later, so I probably will not get much done in the crochet department, but I have the body of a beaver ready to be sorted out at the next opportunity.
I did some designs I was pleased with for the new embroidery kits last night while listening to some rather loud Rammstein (sorry neighbours!) All will be revealed soon I hope!
I finally have a picture from Paul and Amy's wedding (I am on the left in purple - my nails are still purple as I don't have any nail varnish remover!) The picture is from James' phone, so it is not great, but it is the best I have :@)
I did not get my puffin done last night, but I did him this morning instead and he has been uploaded onto the website, Deviant Art, Etsy and Ebay.
I am hoping to add some new embroidery kits to the website soon. Watch this space for more details!
I finished Muffin the Puffin today and I am going to make another one today (hopefully!) to check I have written the pattern up correctly. Yesterday I was making a rabbit in the evening with a different body shape to most of the others and it seems to be coming on well. (I will put up pictures when he is ready)
I packed and sent my first Seahorse kit out today from Stitch magazine and I will post it on the way to the library.
I weighed myself today as I have been trying to lose weight for a while now. I am now stopping eating when I am satisfied (not when my plate is empty) and I now have fruit for breakfast instead of rice cakes. The current weigh in is 68.5kgs
I live in Newcastle (UK) and I have been a professional embroiderer for over 10 years.
