I have had a very virtuous day today. I have completed two embroidery kits, sorted all the stuff out for my new role as Programme Secretary at the Embroiderers' Guild, filled out my tax form, my student loan form, sorted all my emails out. I also updated the Embroiderers' Guild website, Twitter, blog and Facebook page! Few! It is still only lunch time!
This afternoon I am going to Ebay some stuff, complete a crochet gun and make a start on a fabric journal I am making. What a busy day!
It has been a busy time here, it was James' birthday on the 1st so we had a few days off for that.
I did a Hobbycraft demo on card making last weekend and I sold 7 crochet monsters.
Claire came to see us on Wednesday and we went out for a drink.
I spent 6 hours having my tattoo outlined on Thursday. Ouch! They think it will be around 3 more sessions to colour it in. The photo is from Friday, so it is not as red now. (The red bits will be grey!)
On Friday I did a workshop in the Embroiderers Guild on sewing a beetle and any time in between I have been sewing the stole. It has come on really well in the last few days and should be done very soon, it is the gold that takes the time, the bush is very quick.
Next week will be much quieter, just an Embroiderers' Guild meeting and an embroidery worshop
I have nearly finished the wren. All the base coats are done, it just needs the detail added. I have run out of enthusiasm this morning to finish him, but I will be going to the Embroiderers' Guild this afternoon (it is the last day today) and will probably be able to get it done then so I can have some fun (it is my birthday tomorrow)
I have nearly done my crochet Glock, I have had to redesign the grip as it was too fat, but hopefully this one is better. When I have put it together it will need some details on the barrel and then I can put the pictures up. Sadly it will not be able to go on Ebay because it counts as a replica firearm!
Just a quick update, my letter 'I' for the Embroiderers' Guild banner has been started! I am just not sure what to do now...... :@)
Yesterday when we had finished I wasn't feeling very creative, so I made the basic shapes for a rabbit, and a beaver so I could finish all the fun bits today. I finished my rabbit and I am taking the printed pattern with me to the Embroiderers' Guild so I can make another one to check if I have made the pattern correctly. This one will be blue, just for fun!
We are having some friends round later, so I probably will not get much done in the crochet department, but I have the body of a beaver ready to be sorted out at the next opportunity.
I did some designs I was pleased with for the new embroidery kits last night while listening to some rather loud Rammstein (sorry neighbours!) All will be revealed soon I hope!
I forgot to do my blog yesterday. Oops! I made myself have an afternoon and evening off from crochet animals as I couldn't sleep wondering about attaching pipe cleaners to a stick insect, then when I eventually did get to sleep, I woke up at 5 pondering the same problem. Can anyone say 'obsessing'!
Yesterday I tried to finish my bee, I did all the legs and was pleased with those, but I had to change the wings. I finished him today and the sun is out so hopefully there will be a picture up soon. I finished typing up the pattern for him too.
I spent a lot of yesterday trying to set up my own Payloadz account to sell my crochet patterns. I currently use James' account which is fine, but it means he gets the money in his account (not so fine!) It was easy enough to set up, but the features I want only come if you pay and I only wanted the free account at the moment. To cut a long story short, I signed up and they charged me for the premium account after I had uploaded all the PDFs onto the new account and changed all the buttons on my website. They have now been changed back and I am trying to get my money back :@(
I made one of the posters for the Embroiderers' Guild. We hoped to have one outside the venue to attract people in. We will see what people think!
I still have several bits of Yoda to do before he can be put together and then I can hopefully get on with a piece of canvas work for James' mum, she liked the design, but it took a long time. I volunteered to do it as a fun project. Sometimes it is nice to do as you are told in an embroidery rather than doing it all yourself.
Right, I am off to photograph a bee!
Another busy day today (I say day but I really mean morning as I tend to start work at 6.30 - 7 ish and work up until lunchtime allowing me to have the rest of the day to myself!) I finally managed to get a photo of my finished zebra, I PDFed the pattern (myself this time!) and uploaded it on the site here. He is also for sale as a toy on this site and I put him on Ebay as well. I will be trying to promote my site by sending the free PDF of the zebra to various websites soon
I sorted out 4 disks for an order of James' Dads DVDs and we posted the disks to America on the way to the library to take back 4 books on Zen and I got out Martha Stewart's book on crafts, watch out world! This afternoon I am planning to do the bits of Yoda that I didn't do yesterday. I only have the features left to do, but they might be a bit fiddly.
I updated the Swansea Embroiderers Guild website, blog, Twitter and Facebook page with some of the work members were doing yesterday afternoon. I have signed myself up to do an afternoon class on vilene flowers next week, that should be fun.
I have a couple of posters to do - have volunteered James to do for me :@)
for the Guild to promote it and get more members coming along which hopefully I will do tomorrow. I was slightly disappointed to find that I have no mid-brown yarn for the rabbit I was planning to make soon, I will have to go to the shop in Swansea and see what they have.
I had a slight blog issue on Wednesday. I wrote up everything I had done and in a rush to finish, I deleted the post. Oops! I will try to remember what I have been doing.....
On Wednesday I finished the first Seahorse kit ready for the Stitch article and added it to the website here.
I started writing up the pattern for the zebra I have been making over the last few days. I need to check it is correct by making another one which is what I have been doing today and I will take it with me this afternoon to the Embroiderers' Guild meeting to sew together. I just need to take a good picture (harder than it sounds!) and do a couple of detail pictures of techniques I used and then it can be PDFed and uploaded on to this site and others as it will be FREE!
We went to the cinema on Wednesday afternoon and had a day off yesterday as James was not feeling well. I spent the day rather obsessively making a crochet Yoda (sadly not my pattern) I will put a picture up when I have finished him.
I have come up with some designs for a rabbit and possibly a centipede; I also have a bee to finish, I need to find a way to make him look cute. I think he will be the next project when the zebra is finished.
I must remember to take some photos of the Guild meeting this afternoon as I look after their website and I need to arrange some Friday afternoon classes.
Hopefully I will get most of the pieces of Yoda finished today and then I will have to sew him together, it seems quite complicated and has its own video which I will have to watch soon in case George Lucas decides he needs to take it down!
I live in Newcastle (UK) and I have been a professional embroiderer for over 10 years.
