I have had a very virtuous day today. I have completed two embroidery kits, sorted all the stuff out for my new role as Programme Secretary at the Embroiderers' Guild, filled out my tax form, my student loan form, sorted all my emails out. I also updated the Embroiderers' Guild website, Twitter, blog and Facebook page! Few! It is still only lunch time!
This afternoon I am going to Ebay some stuff, complete a crochet gun and make a start on a fabric journal I am making. What a busy day!
It has been a busy time here, it was James' birthday on the 1st so we had a few days off for that.
I did a Hobbycraft demo on card making last weekend and I sold 7 crochet monsters.
Claire came to see us on Wednesday and we went out for a drink.
I spent 6 hours having my tattoo outlined on Thursday. Ouch! They think it will be around 3 more sessions to colour it in. The photo is from Friday, so it is not as red now. (The red bits will be grey!)
On Friday I did a workshop in the Embroiderers Guild on sewing a beetle and any time in between I have been sewing the stole. It has come on really well in the last few days and should be done very soon, it is the gold that takes the time, the bush is very quick.
Next week will be much quieter, just an Embroiderers' Guild meeting and an embroidery worshop
The wren has been successfully framed and posted to its owner. Hooray!
I am now working on some kits to take to a Hobbycraft demonstration, They will be on the website soon. When I have done that I am working on a stole commission. I have started going to a group called Itchy Fingers a group of textile artists who are very enthusiastic and are very supportive.
I am trying something new with my food again because I was feeling miserable. I am currently 68.4kg after spending the last few days binging on junk and beer. Now I am going to try calorie counting.
I am getting on well with my canvas work that Betty bought for me for my birthday
I am doing my wren today, it is coming on very slowly, but I am pleased with how it is going. I nearly had to start again though as I dropped the glue-covered bead, thankfully it landed glue side up. Why does that not work with toast?!
I will take the wren to the Embroiderers' Guild this afternoon, the first sewing I have done there for ages!
I made some more DVDs for James' dad today and will post them to Belgium later.
I painted the background for another kit and I have been able to treat myself to a new phone with the profits. Yeah! I very rarely want to buy things like that, but the technology bug really hit me with this and I can't wait until it arrives
The canvas work is still going well. I have nearly finished it now sadly, but I think it is really something I would like to do in the future.
James helped me with some amigurumi ideas yesterday and I am really looking forward to starting those when I have less on as I think it will be something I need to do in one go so I get in the zone.....!
I have finished writing up the bee pattern, PDFed it and he is now uploaded on the site.
I also updated the embroiderers guild website today.
I am not sure what creature to make next, but I may have a commission coming, which will be very challenging, but it is the best way to learn. I think I would like to do a stick insect, but we shall see what happens. I would really like to do a beaver, but unfortunately the shops in Swansea that sell the yarn seem to not stock the right colours. Bother!
I am thinking of making a Facebook page. I used to have one, but I got sick of the nonsense that people were posting, but if I make one just for work, then hopefully I will not get any of that
I live in Newcastle (UK) and I have been a professional embroiderer for over 10 years.
