I am getting on well with the stole today (well I did start at 6!) I have nearly finished the first side, the darker thread is much easier to use and is much quicker to sew with. I need to finish a bit of the trunk, make sure that none of the leaves are gappy when I take the hoop off and then I need to sew the sides back up (I had to slit the seams and sew the design through the sides).
I can now reveal my new business idea, which is to make ethical crafts. I am trying to really research my supplies, which is harder than it sounds! The yarn I have had so far is made of hemp. I photographed the 2 parcels so far, the pictures are not great, but you get the idea.
It is now lunchtime and I am going to start doing more on my new business this afternoon, I am trying to split my day between sewing and the new business, hopefully in the next week or so, the new website will be up and running!
I have finished the first part of the first embroidery on the stole. It is the bit that is nasty to sew so it has taken ages, but it is done now. The bush in the centre can be done at a normal speed because the thread is more friendly.
I am having the outlining done on my tattoo on the 4th October. Eek!
On Friday night I did a talk for the Swansea Branch of the Embroiderers Guild which went much better than I expected (well I thought so anyway!) I got to talk about my embroidery and I showed pictures and actual embroideries from the last 12 ish years. Everyone seemed to enjoy it and I didn't freeze which was nice!
Yesterday I did another day at Hobbycraft demonstrating amigurumi (crochet) animals. I am not sure I will do any more after next week (cards) because it takes a lot of time and no one really comes to see.
My parcel arrived when I was out as well and it was full of new threads for my new project which will mean the end of this website and the start of another. If you would like to know more, please contact me. This website will be taken down in the next week or so and replaced with another.
I have been doing more on my stole. It is so slow!
We are off to see the latest tattoo designs later.
Hopefully some of my parcels will arrive today to help with my new idea......more coming soon!
I have been working on the stole for the last few days and it is growing slowly. It is taking much longer than I thought because it is not friendly thread to work with. It is coming slowly though.
Still no word on my tattoo :@(
Today I have been working towards a new project which I will post about properly soon. It is very exciting.
Still no tattoo update today which is a shame, hopefully soon.....
I did some work on the stole today
The Hobbycraft demonstration was a disaster, the three demonstrators talked to 2 people who I think just felt sorry for us, but it was fun and I learned a lot. At least I will be doing another demo on amigurumi
I am doing a demonstration in Hobbycraft tonight and I have been making lots of creatures which I am allowed to sell. So far I have made 2 bees, 2 stick insects, a Glock, 2 reindeer, a pig, all the bits to make 2 frogs and half a second pig in the last week or so and I am looking forward to not making any more for a few days! I will have pretty much 2 of everything by this evening. Few!
I get to hear about my tattoo appointment today, I am very excited!
Today I have been doing my stole, I am so behind, but hopefully I will be getting lots done this week.
I am also making another Glock as I gave the black one to a friend as a get well present. The new one I will take to Hobbycraft tomorrow night for my amigurumi (crochet animal) demonstration with lots of other toys.
We are not going for our usual cinema trip today as we have been into town a lot recently and there is not really anything we want to see, James quite fancied the Judge Dredd film, but it was only in 3D and without wishing to sound ancient, we don't really like them in 3D
Here as promised is ALL I have done on the stole, I still have the other side to do too. Oh dear!
It has been a bit of an odd couple of weeks. I think it comes from not eating properly and I think I am mostly back on track now.
Today I have been packing Ebay parcels, catching up on my emails from the weekend because James' brother Alan came to stay, we had a nice time, ate bad food and drank too much. It did make us realise how much food plays a part in our mood and we are making a special effort to eat well from now on. We then went into town for lunch and to go and see the design for my new tattoo. I can't show you because the chap did not want me to show anyone in case I took his design and got someone else to do the actual tattoo, but hopefully it will be on my skin soon and then I will be able to post pictures.
When we got back from town I did more on my stole, I am so far behind on it, but it does not have to be done until April. I will put some pictures up tomorrow to show the progress.
I have been making lots of amigurumi (crochet) creatures for a demonstration in Hobbycraft on Thursday. I have been having trouble getting the eyes, but hopefully they will be here in time.
I have been drifting a bit recently and I have decided to do more work in the day so I can get more done and feel I have achieved something, otherwise like today, I would have just packed parcels and got no work done at all. I am also keeping a food and mood diary and trying to cut out the junky food. What will be hard is finding something we like to do that is not going out for food as there is nowhere that serves good vegan food here. Maybe if we eat better, our heads will be in a better place and we won't need to go as much.
Hopefully I will get back to posting what I have been doing each day
I have not been doing any embroidery for the last few days, I was feeling very down about my father yesterday and last evening I started to feel rather odd, as though I was losing my balance a lot. I thought it would be gone in the morning, but it hasn't :@( It feels like I have had too much to drink and I stagger if I move too fast. I am sure it will be gone soon.
I am making crochet (amigurumi) animals for a demonstration I am doing at Hobbycraft as I don't want to be thinking too much
James' brother Alan is coming this weekend which will be fun. I am sure there will be a few trips out and plenty of gaming.
As I understand I have an article in Workshop on the Web this month, but I have not heard anything. That will be exciting :@)
I live in Newcastle (UK) and I have been a professional embroiderer for over 10 years.
