I am back from the exhibition Paradise of Fools and it looks as though I may have sold my fabric book. Hooray! I am now working on a new project to make a "Page a Day" where I make a 6 1/2" square piece of work every day. It is working well so far, I am learning lots and working very hard on it, it can be frustrating, but it will be worth it in the end. The idea is that the piece can be framed as usual, it could have eyelets put into the top to turn it into a hanging, or they can be collected slowly over time and then made into a fabric book.
I will try to put up pictures of the book I made for the exhibition in the next few days
I have been getting on well with the fabric book, I have finished the inside front cover and I am now starting on the outside back cover (it is 5.40 pm) but I will carrry on as long as I can. Sorry there are no pictures, but with any luck the book will be finished tomorrow and then I will put up decent photos of the whole thing. Wahoo!
I have been getting on well with the fabric book, good job really as it needs to be done by Thursday (it is Saturday today) I have completed the page I last posted about, I made one based on Othello and Touchstone (the greenish one with the flowers in the top left corner) I have done the front cover (with my father-in-laws monogram on) and the back inside cover (the patchwork diamond)
I also had my tattoo finished! 28 hours in total!
Sorry it is a quick catch up post, but i am working very hard on the book at the moment..... Hopefully it will be finished soon
I am making a Seahorse Kit this morning and then we might go out later for a meal as I am feeling sad about my Dad today. I saw a photo of James and my wedding with Dad in it and it brought up some new memories of him. March is always a difficult month as it is the anniversary of his death and would have been his birthday.
Yesterday I went to the gym, started on my new book page, "The Alchemist" and "Yokozuna Chiyonofuji" I am planning to sew on tiny pieces of sheer fabric with a French knot to represent cherry blossom all around the sumo, but I am a bit stuck on what to do for the Alchemist. I suppose something gold is the obvious choice..... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Something will come to me I am sure....
I got a bit carried away today. I thought that as I had nearly finished the pitcher plant pattern, I would spend the morning finishing it and put it up for sale.....trouble is it took all day. I really have to do some of my fabric book tomorrow, but I am all ready to go. I prepared the fabric I bought for the pages, by ironing on the interfacing and cutting out the right size for the two remaining ones and I have ideas for the pictures I will be using for the backgrounds tomorrow.
I managed to get hold of some fabric to make my next book pages, it is currently in the washing machine to get the coating off it, but when it is dry, I should be able to get on with the last two pages.
As I said before, I posted all my crochet patterns online, they have been selling very well and so I have spent the last two days finishing off a pitcher plant design I started ages ago. The gun as always is the top seller, but unusually this time I also recieved about 12 complaints about the gun, from people in America saying that I should take the design down. I shall do some more work on the pitcher plant this afternoon as I can't do the book until the fabric is dry
I managed to get back to the gym yesterday and today after about 3 weeks off with a pinful ankle, it seems OK now, so I should be able to squeeze into my private view dress in about 3 1/2 weeks time!
I managed to get an appointment to finish my tattoo off, only 4 more hours to go! It should then be healed for the exhibition so I don't have to walk round with my back covered in cling film!
I live in Newcastle (UK) and I have been a professional embroiderer for over 10 years.
