I did a talk about my embroideries today to a group in Swansea, everyone was lovely and seemed to enjoy it. It is never as bad as I think it will be, so I have signed up to a few more. They are such an enthusiastic group.
I sold my kingfisher embroidery today. Always a nice suprise. I am working on my next fabric book for my father-in-laws exhibition in April. Some of the carvings have been chosen and I now need to decide how many carvings to put on each page and how it will all be laid out. It is quite scarey because I haven't done anything like this before, but I like the challenge, it is nice to do a piece with a little bit of unknown, just not too much!

I have been sorting out my website today after a problem with my downloads. I have also added the flower pot pattern to the website. I have updated all the information for the Swansea Embroiderers Guild, their Facebook page, website, blog and Twitter pages after our meeting on Friday. I am having a bit of a slow day today as I have still not been very well, it is a cold that doesn't really do anything, just makes you feel floppy, then my cat scratched my eye, it is fine, just itchy and bloodshot and I also had an earache which has left me with dodgy balance and limited hearing in my left ear. Oh well, it will all be gone soon!
I have been having lots of thoughts about the fabric book for my father-in-laws exhibition, but I don't really want to start something that complicated at the moment. I was asked by my mother-in-law to crochet a mermaid. I have used a pattern from the internet to save time, but I learned new tricks from it, so it was very useful.
I have also been asked to make a fabric book for my father-in-laws exhibition based on his life. It should be very interesting to do, but I might have to put the blue tit on standby for a while as the exhibition is in On Wednesday we went to the cinema and out for lunch. On Thursday I became very sad about my fathers death, maybe it is the start of me coming to terms with it.
I listed all the embroideries have for sale on my Facebook page, I am willing to take offers for them as I need to make room for my new work. Saturday today and I have painted the background fabric for my blue tit. I have been asked to make a blue tit by one of my clients, pictures of the work in progress will be up as I make it. I have nearly finished testing my flower pot crochet pattern, it will be up in the next few days, but I am having a day off today. Wahoo! I shall spend the day having a read and making our blanket
Sorry for not posting for a few days. I am having a few days off after driving myself bonkers by doing too much work. Life is to live and I had forgotten that and started obsessing about work. I am having a week off and it feels good! I am making a blanket for us as it is so cold at the moment, it will probably be ready by summer! It is brightly coloured and I will put up pictures as it progresses
I have been trying to sort out my website today, I have tried to simplify some pages and add to others. I have added photos of my fabric book and they are now available to buy, along with updating the crochet page so you can have any item made in any colour from the beautiful hemp yarns by the House of Hemp. I have also added bangles that you can buy and I have a few more goodies to put up in the next few days. I relise that there may be a few mistakes while I am building the website,
Sorry it has been so long since I have posted, it has been very busy and I haven't been able to tell you about it!
Well let's start with the basics, I have changed the name of my website to Green Monster Crafts. I hope this reflects more of me and that it conveys my desire to become as ethical as I can with my work. (See the 'My Aims' page for more information on that) I have finished Legion who was a crochet toy for my friend Paul (it was a design I found on the internet and I will add a link as soon as I find it again) I have also finished a fabric book for my mothers 70th birthday. Pictures of the whole book will be posted soon I have had more work done on my tattoo, 18 hours done, about 6 to go! I have made more crocheted items that I will be writing up the patterns for soon, they will be up on the website as soon as they are done. I am back on track to keep my blog up to date |
